How To Root The Samsung Galaxy Ace On Froyo And Gingerbread

The Galaxy Ace S5830 is intended as a budget Android device by Samsung with a decent 3.5 inch screen but a sorry 320 by 480 pixels resolution. However, Android is one OS that can make the slowest and oldest devices look and feel flashy. The Galaxy Ace is no exception. With the device being rooted, it is now ready to show it’s true potential. More on the root after the jump.

The root instructions will be divided into two parts, rooting on Android 2.2 Froyo and rooting on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Requirements:

SuperOneClick. (For Android 2.2 Froyo.)
upd_1.zip. (For Android 2.3 Gingerbread.)

Instructions:

For Froyo

To begin, download SuperOneClick from the link above and extract it anywhere on your PC.
On your phone, make sure USB debugging is enabled in Settings > Applications > Development> USB Debugging.
Now connect your phone to the computer and run SuperOneClick.exe and hit the Root button.

For Gingerbread

To begin, download upd_1.zip from the link above and copy it to the root of your SD card.
Reboot into recovery by holding the Home and Power button, letting go of the power button once you see the Samsung logo.
Navigate to update from sdcard and then select upd_.1zip.
Once the file is flashed, reboot the device.

The rooting method is this simple for both, on Froyo and on Gingerbread.
